Sign up for Wellthy using your student email address. If prompted, input your student ID to verify your eligibility.

Tell us about your care needs and build your Care Circle

Through some short and simple prompts, tell us about your care situation and the needs of your family. Here’s where you can start to build out your own Care Circle, too, if you’re planning ahead or want to note any preferred providers or family and friends you want to turn to for backup care support.

Request care

Submit your care request and either a Wellthy Care Team member will get to work finding the most flexible and appropriate options for you and your family, or if you’re leveraging the contacts in your personal Care Circle your request will be sent directly to them.

Who is eligible for this benefit?

Backup care is available to eligible Harvard Graduate School of Education students. During the onboarding process, you will need to provide your student ID to verify your eligibility.

Who can I use Backup Care for?

Backup care can be used for your children.

What’s included in this benefit?

Eligible students are able to use up to 10 backup care days per fiscal year. 

  • The number of days is per student, per year—meaning you have 10 backup care days to use for your children.
  • These days can be used for either a full or partial day of care 
  • Unused backup care days do not roll over to the next year

Harvard Graduate School of Education covers the cost of a backup care day up to $250 per day for any providers within Wellthy’s Care Network, Licensed Providers, Harvard Community Network, and your Personal Network. You are responsible for a copayment of $25/day and any costs that go beyond the subsidized amount Harvard Graduate School of Education provides.

Can Wellthy find and schedule backup care for me?

Yes! Backup Care Specialists are here to help you find and secure care when you need care. They can also proactively help you build a list of potential options for when the time comes — this is called building your Backup Care Circle.

Why should I use Backup Care?

Backup care helps you cover unexpected gaps in your regular care, allowing you to focus on your studies. Wellthy provides various flexible options for Backup Care so that you can choose the option that makes the most sense for your family.

Are providers in Wellthy’s Care Network vetted?

Wellthy’s Care Network of backup care options are vetted providers that go through a rigorous screening process. 

  • In-Center Care: Verification of state and federal licensing, online reviews across multiple platforms and direct contact with centers
  • Community-Based Programs: Online review assessment, licensing verification where applicable, and direct contact with programs.
  • In-Home Providers: Review of past experience and comprehensive background checks — criminal, sex offender, SSN trace, global watchlist.

If students use a caregiver or center from their personal network, they are fully responsible for all vetting and verifying.
 

*Please note that Wellthy does not directly employ or oversee any provider in the Care Network or within an individual’s personal network. Wellthy does not take responsibility for the final selection, whether they are sourced by Wellthy, the family, or through other means.

How much does Backup Care cost?

Harvard Graduate School of Education covers the cost of a backup care day up to $250 per day for any providers within Wellthy’s Care Network, Licensed Providers, Harvard Community Network, and your Personal Network. You are responsible for a copayment of $25/day and any costs that go beyond the subsidized amount Harvard Graduate School of Education provides.

Our digital platform is available 24 hours, 7 days/week

For Backup Care requests, Backup Care Specialists are available Monday-Friday from 5am-1am ET and Saturday & Sunday from 5pm-1am ET via messaging on our platform or via phone (518) 243-8025

We tackle to-do's, advocate on your behalf, and connect you with resources that make taking care of yourself and your family as seamless as possible. We support families caring for loved ones—including parents, in-laws, children, spouses, siblings, and beyond—regardless of their condition or circumstance.

Who is eligible for this benefit?

Backup care is available to eligible Harvard Graduate School of Education students. During the onboarding process, you will need to provide your student ID to verify your eligibility.

Who can I use Backup Care for?

Backup care can be used for your children.

What’s included in this benefit?

Eligible students are able to use up to 10 backup care days per fiscal year. 

  • The number of days is per student, per year—meaning you have 10 backup care days to use for your children.
  • These days can be used for either a full or partial day of care 
  • Unused backup care days do not roll over to the next year

Harvard Graduate School of Education covers the cost of a backup care day up to $250 per day for any providers within Wellthy’s Care Network, Licensed Providers, Harvard Community Network, and your Personal Network. You are responsible for a copayment of $25/day and any costs that go beyond the subsidized amount Harvard Graduate School of Education provides.

Can Wellthy find and schedule backup care for me?

Yes! Backup Care Specialists are here to help you find and secure care when you need care. They can also proactively help you build a list of potential options for when the time comes — this is called building your Backup Care Circle.

Backup care helps you cover unexpected gaps in your regular care, allowing you to focus on your studies. Wellthy provides various flexible options for Backup Care so that you can choose the option that makes the most sense for your family.

Are providers in Wellthy’s Care Network vetted?

Wellthy’s Care Network of backup care options are vetted providers that go through a rigorous screening process. 

  • In-Center Care: Verification of state and federal licensing, online reviews across multiple platforms and direct contact with centers
  • Community-Based Programs: Online review assessment, licensing verification where applicable, and direct contact with programs.
  • In-Home Providers: Review of past experience and comprehensive background checks — criminal, sex offender, SSN trace, global watchlist.

If students use a caregiver or center from their personal network, they are fully responsible for all vetting and verifying.

How does Wellthy work, and who can they help?

Wellthy connects you with a dedicated Care Coordinator who helps manage the many tasks and decisions that come with end-of-life planning and loss. That might include estate planning, guidance on creating a will, coordinating hospice or palliative care, organizing legal and financial paperwork, or helping with funeral planning and family communication. We’re here to support individuals and families through every step—whether you're planning ahead or navigating a loss in real time.

What do I need to sign up, and what’s required of me?

Backup care is available to eligible Harvard Graduate School of Education students. During the onboarding process, you will need to provide your student ID to verify your eligibility.

Backup care can be used for your children.

What’s included in this benefit?

Eligible students are able to use up to 10 backup care days per fiscal year. 

  • The number of days is per student, per year—meaning you have 10 backup care days to use for your children.
  • These days can be used for either a full or partial day of care 
  • Unused backup care days do not roll over to the next year

Harvard Graduate School of Education covers the cost of a backup care day up to $250 per day for any providers within Wellthy’s Care Network, Licensed Providers, Harvard Community Network, and your Personal Network. You are responsible for a copayment of $25/day and any costs that go beyond the subsidized amount Harvard Graduate School of Education provides.

Yes! Backup Care Specialists are here to help you find and secure care when you need care. They can also proactively help you build a list of potential options for when the time comes — this is called building your Backup Care Circle.

  • In-Center Care: Verification of state and federal licensing, online reviews across multiple platforms and direct contact with centers
  • Community-Based Programs: Online review assessment, licensing verification where applicable, and direct contact with programs.
  • In-Home Providers: Review of past experience and comprehensive background checks — criminal, sex offender, SSN trace, global watchlist.

If students use a caregiver or center from their personal network, they are fully responsible for all vetting and verifying.
 

*Please note that Wellthy does not directly employ or oversee any provider in the Care Network or within an individual’s personal network. Wellthy does not take responsibility for the final selection, whether they are sourced by Wellthy, the family, or through other means.

How does Wellthy work, and who can they help?

Wellthy provides hands-on, 1:1 support from experts who help families navigate their unique care needs across every phase of life and during life's most vital moments. We tackle to-do's, advocate on your behalf, and connect you with resources that make taking care of yourself and your family as seamless as possible. We support families caring for loved ones—including parents, in-laws, children, spouses, siblings, and beyond—regardless of their condition or circumstance.

What do I need to sign up, and what’s required of me?

To activate your Wellthy account, you may use either your personal or work email. You’ll be prompted to confirm eligibility, so please follow the instructions.

Who is eligible for this benefit?

Backup care is available to eligible Harvard Graduate School of Education students. During the onboarding process, you will need to provide your student ID to verify your eligibility.

Who can I use Backup Care for?

Backup care can be used for your children.

What’s included in this benefit?

Eligible students are able to use up to 10 backup care days per fiscal year. 

  • The number of days is per student, per year—meaning you have 10 backup care days to use for your children.
  • These days can be used for either a full or partial day of care 
  • Unused backup care days do not roll over to the next year

Harvard Graduate School of Education covers the cost of a backup care day up to $250 per day for any providers within Wellthy’s Care Network, Licensed Providers, Harvard Community Network, and your Personal Network. You are responsible for a copayment of $25/day and any costs that go beyond the subsidized amount Harvard Graduate School of Education provides.

Can Wellthy find and schedule backup care for me?

Yes! Backup Care Specialists are here to help you find and secure care when you need care. They can also proactively help you build a list of potential options for when the time comes — this is called building your Backup Care Circle.

Why should I use Backup Care?

Backup care helps you cover unexpected gaps in your regular care, allowing you to focus on your studies. Wellthy provides various flexible options for Backup Care so that you can choose the option that makes the most sense for your family.

Are providers in Wellthy’s Care Network vetted?

Wellthy’s Care Network of backup care options are vetted providers that go through a rigorous screening process. 

  • In-Center Care: Verification of state and federal licensing, online reviews across multiple platforms and direct contact with centers
  • Community-Based Programs: Online review assessment, licensing verification where applicable, and direct contact with programs.
  • In-Home Providers: Review of past experience and comprehensive background checks — criminal, sex offender, SSN trace, global watchlist.

If students use a caregiver or center from their personal network, they are fully responsible for all vetting and verifying.
 

*Please note that Wellthy does not directly employ or oversee any provider in the Care Network or within an individual’s personal network. Wellthy does not take responsibility for the final selection, whether they are sourced by Wellthy, the family, or through other means.

How much does Backup Care cost?

Harvard Graduate School of Education covers the cost of a backup care day up to $250 per day for any providers within Wellthy’s Care Network, Licensed Providers, Harvard Community Network, and your Personal Network.
