Wellthy Co-Founder and CTO, Kevin Roche, appeared on the latest episode of the Story of Software podcast from Zartis, where he shared insights on how Wellthy blends technological innovation with the deeply human side of care coordination.
During the episode, Kevin discusses the transformative role technology — including AI — can play in caregiving. Technology has the incredible potential to simplify healthcare jargon, quickly gauge the sentiment behind caregivers’ messages during stressful situations, and guide effective communication with families. However, Kevin emphasizes that while technology can enhance caregiving support, it cannot replace the human connection at its core.
“Caregiving is one of the most profoundly human activities we do. Caring for another human… is just going to be one of the last things that AI can fully understand and try to help someone through emotionally and support them in the right ways. We want to make sure our Care Team is 100% focused on that type of work and connecting with families.”
Kevin also reflects on Wellthy's early days, describing how he and Co-Founder Lindsay Jurist-Rosner envisioned a solution that seamlessly integrated human expertise with a modern digital experience for caregivers. “We knew the solution would have a human component to it but also really felt there needed to be a modern digital experience for caregivers and understood we could use technology to enable social workers and other experts to support families remotely and from the comfort of their own home.” This approach has enabled Wellthy to scale support for families without sacrificing the quality of care.
As Kevin notes, Wellthy’s success lies in its alignment of purpose, passion, and innovation. By combining compassionate human expertise with cutting-edge technology, Wellthy is shaping a future where caregiving is not only more manageable but also more supportive and profoundly human.
